Schwinn Jogging Stroller Review

You might know the name Schwinn when it comes to bicycles, but this company has done much more than that over the years! They have created some of the world’s best jogging strollers, which are great for parents looking to stay in shape, model healthy habits for their kids, and get out for some fresh air.

These Schwinn strollers are immensely popular among parents new and veteran. After all, they come in a variety of colors and sizes. There are single strollers and double strollers, all built to withstand the rigors of parenting. Let’s take a look at the best of the best.

Schwinn: Overview

Schwinn has been in business for over 125 years as one of the world’s premier manufacturers of bicycles. But, as their business has grown, so has their product line.

Schwinn also makes fitness equipment, part of which includes jogging strollers that help parents stay fit, active and model healthy habits for their children.

Top Schwinn Jogging Strollers

Pacific Cycle Instep Arrow Fixed Double Wheel Jogger

This Schwinn stroller comes in a snappy red color, and parents and kids alike love the double design and how great it feels to push it along. The stroller itself weighs 36 lbs., but the suspension makes you feel like you’re pushing nothing at all. Even with two kids in the stroller, you will find it a breeze to push it along.

The wheels are filled with air, and the rear dual shocks make smooth and easy rides happen every time you use the stroller. Safety is always first, and for this stroller, you will love the handbrakes included in the design. It makes stopping on a dime easy to do.

You’ll love how the stroller goes so easily over surfaces of many kinds. Walking around the block or on city sidewalks, it’s a smooth and easy ride. The kids will love how it feels, and it’s so smooth, they might just fall asleep!

But for those of us living in areas where dirt paths are common or you prefer to walk on forest trails, this stroller does a great job navigating those bumpy areas.

There’s even a set of speakers in the canopy. Here, you can listen to music or the news as you run/walk- or treat the kids to some children’s music as you take your walk. Either way, everybody’s happy with this stroller.

Pros

  • Light, compact, and easy to store.
  • The storage underneath snaps off easily.
  • The air-filled tires go over surfaces easily and are superb for running.
  • Suspension is top-notch.
  • Includes a tray for parents and cup holders.
  • The handle is easy to adjust and great for comfort while running.

Cons

  • The canopy is not very big- you may wish to have your child wear a hat for sun protection.
  • Not ideal for children aged 4 and up-the stroller tends to be too small.

Schwinn Free Runner Jogging Stroller

This is a great “dupe” of a more expensive jogging stroller we’ve seen in the past, namely the BOB Ironman. This has all the basics you need in a good jogging stroller. It features a lightweight frame, a front wheel that’s fixed, a canopy that keeps your child safe from the sun, and air-filled tires.

You essentially get everything you need in a jogging stroller, and the price is right.

It’s perfect for casual runners- if you’re a serious runner, consider investing in something a bit more suited for longevity. This is ideal for short runs, not because it can’t handle the terrain, but because it lacks adequate cushioning to keep a child comfortable for a REALLY LONG period of time.

If you are crafty, you might consider adding your own cushioning to the stroller, as it’s not the softest we’ve seen.

Pros

  • Super light at just 24 lbs.
  • The front fixed wheel keeps the stroller straight.
  • The floating canopy is generously sized and perfect for keeping your child safe from the sun.
  • There’s a parent console available as well for your phone, drink, or personal belongings.

Cons

  • The basket underneath is not the sturdiest we’ve seen.
  • No clip to secure the stroller once it’s folded, so it unfolds when you’re lifting it out of the car.

Schwinn Interval Jogging Stroller

This is an affordable but sharp-looking jogging stroller that active parents everywhere are going to love. The stroller is sturdy and built very well and can handle a variety of surfaces with ease.

The cabin is nice and large, and your young child will find it easy to relax. Kids aged 4 and up may be a bit too big, as we saw with other Schwinn strollers.

The handlebars are adjustable, too- you can easily keep hold of the stroller at a height that is comfortable for you. This makes your run that much more enjoyable.

The stroller also includes a tray for children, including a cupholder where sippies or bottles can stay while you work out. You can also snap off the tray completely if you’d like.

Aside from a child’s tray, a parent tray is also included. This grants you a place where your phone, drink, and keys/wallet can be stored while you walk, work out and spend time with your child.

Lastly, there’s a good-size cargo basket underneath where you can stash a spare diaper, a packet of wipes, or toys /snacks to keep your baby happy.

Pros

  • Wheel ball-bearings are great for giving parents a smooth ride.
  • Shocks are designed for performance and will last during your off-road running adventures.
  • Canopy is nice and big- your child will be safe from the sun.
  • Front-wheel locks to prevent the stroller from swiveling around.

Cons

  • Bulky and rather heavy- take up space in small-car trunks.
  • It takes a bit more effort to push around compared to other strollers like it.

Other Great Strollers

It seems to us that these Schwinn strollers, as great as they are, are out of stock a lot of the time. You can wait for them to come back into stock, or you can check out these great jogging strollers as well.

Baby Trend Expedition Jogging Stroller

Baby Trend Expedition Jogger Stroller, Phantom, 50 Pounds

This one wins our “best value for money” award! It’s a reasonably priced and top-quality jogging stroller that your child will love sitting inside, and you will love steering around.

First off, the price is absolutely right, especially for new parents who’ve already spent a bundle OR parents who want to get into running/walking but don’t want to spend a ton.

The stroller itself is silent and won’t make squeaks that could wake up your baby. Pushing it around is a pleasure; it’s so smooth and easy to move around you’ll actually look forward to using it!

It’s bulky when folded up but can still fit just about anywhere. Users with smaller vehicles noted that it could fit in there (but it definitely took up a lot of room).

This stroller does very well on surfaces like gravel or dirt roads, too. So, if you live in a rural area or a place with forest trails for walking, give this one a try.

Pros

  • Smooth and easy ride, even over rougher surfaces- you can walk, jog and run with ease.
  • The canopy is easy to adjust and will provide plenty of guarding against the sun.
  • There are two red brakes for locking the stroller in place when it’s time for a rest.

Cons

  • The stroller is rather bulky and, even when folded, takes up lots of room.

BOB Gear Revolution 3.0 Flex Jogging Stroller

BOB Gear Revolution Flex 3.0 Jogging Stroller | Smooth Ride Suspension + Easy Fold + Adjustable Handlebar, Graphite Black [New Logo]

This stroller is great in that your baby can sit up and see the world when you are running- great for kids who are exercising their newfound ability to sit up!

The seatbelt is easy to figure out, and there won’t be any fussing around with that. You will also find two small pockets inside the seating area, perfect for storing snacks or toys.

The amount of storage on this stroller is staggering- there is a big cargo area for the essentials, plus a total of six additional pockets AND the cell phone pocket!

The canopy includes a vent and a clear window. You can look directly down into the stroller and see how your baby is doing.

The stroller itself is excellent in terms of maneuverability. You will feel like you’re pushing nothing at all. Your arms, back, and shoulders will thank you. You can use a single hand to push it around- it’s that good.

The suspension of the stroller is incredible. The tires are not just plastic, cheap tires- they’re actually filled with air and will help you and your “jogging buddy” navigate even the toughest terrains with ease.

Also, if you use a BOB infant car seat, this will adapt for use. It also works with other major brands of car seats, but you will have to purchase an adapter for that.

Pros

  • The canopy is HUGE- your little one will be safe from the sun.
  • The handlebar is easy to adjust so your run can be comfortable and productive.
  • Plenty of pockets- especially one that can hold your phone in the back of the canopy. This minimizes the risk of phone dropping.

Cons

  • This stroller lacks a cupholder.

Buying Guide: Jogging Strollers

Not sure what to be looking for when it’s time to buy a jogging stroller? No worries, we’ve got the criteria right here.

Brakes

Good braking is necessary for the safety of you and your child while out running, so try out the stroller first in your home or driveway (or the store) to verify they are easy to use AND work as they should.

Parking brakes come standard on strollers, so make sure it has that included. They can be in the form of handbrakes or foot-operated brakes. Handbrakes do grant you more control as you’re jogging, so that might be something to consider.

Canopy

The canopy feature is more important than you think! While you are out for your walk/run, the canopy is what your child will use to stay shielded from the elements such as the wind, rain, and sun. Your goal is to make sure the canopy keeps your child comfortable but not so hot they become distressed.

Make sure the canopy you end up with is what you want- some parents insist on having a clear window so they can see their child and interact with them from above. Bear in mind you can also separately buy rain covers for the stroller.

Handle

How does the handlebar feel? It should feel comfortable to the touch. You should have the ability to adjust the height, so it’s ideal for you. Try to run with the stroller briefly to ensure your feet don’t hit the axle when running.

Safety Harness

The safety of your baby matters the very most while you are working out and running. Five-point safety harnesses are ideal for your little one’s safety- this includes a crotch strap that also goes to a buckle, then two shoulder straps, and two waist straps that all go into the buckle.

Three-point harnesses are not as safe because they lack shoulder straps, which presents a slipping hazard for babies (they could slide right out if the stroller tips over).

And make sure your child cannot unhook their harness themselves. A waist strap that’s durable and strong, and provides a snug fit, is ideal. You should also be able to adjust the straps for height as this will accommodate growing children.

Conclusion

Schwinn jogging strollers are beloved by parents and kids alike, who praise their exceptional value and quality. It certainly helps that Schwinn is known for making some of the best bicycles the world has ever known- they have a great name to uphold, and they can’t afford to make low-quality products.

Which of these jogging strollers are you most interested in? No matter which one you choose, you are going to enjoy hours of fun outdoors with your child and enjoy your workout.
